Environment
Kakurinbo is a 550-year-old shukubo, standing in the sacred eastern valley of Minobusan. Founded by Nichiren Buddhist master Nichicho Daishonin, the temple blends historical elegance with modern comforts. Rooms are traditional Japanese-style with sliding fusuma partitions, prioritizing privacy with carefully arranged corner rooms. The bathing area offers a view of Muso Kokushi’s Japanese garden, featuring a unique wine bath inspired by Yamanashi’s famous wines. Kakurinbo ensures a comfortable stay with minimal steps, bidet-equipped toilets, and table seating while preserving the traditional charm of our shukubo.
Reviews
Traditional wooden building and rooms. Food was great. Very friendly hosts, they speak English well. Area is beautiful although many trees don’t have leaves in winter. I bet in spring or autumn is even better. Attending the prayer at the main temple is a must!

We had the most amazing stay. The meals were sublime, and the service and care from the staff was welcoming and attentive. We enjoyed the onsen, it was so warm and relaxing, and the following morning we attending the service at the temple – this is something you simply have to experience.
