Environment
Hogen-ji Temple was founded in 1596 by Nichika Shonin and belongs to the Nichiren sect of Buddhism. Located near the Southern Alps IC and Kofu Station, it is surrounded by serene fruit orchards. Committed to being an open temple for the community, Hogen-ji offers learning and mindfulness experiences through initiatives like “Terakoya Hogen-ji” and “Temple Morning.” In 1871, the temple’s main hall served as the temporary campus for Yoshida School, the predecessor of Yutaka Elementary School.
